3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for Monday 9/19/22

The Rockies will hope to stir up some home cooking at Coors Field on Monday. Which other offenses should we stack?

Stacks are an integral part of daily fantasy baseball. They can push a team to the top of a GPP by driving upside. However, they're also viable in cash games, namely smaller (two-person or three-person) stacks that mitigate the volatility of a full four-person stack.

This article is your home throughout the 2022 Major League Baseball season for the day's top stacks. The primary goal is to identify the highest-scoring upside stack. Still, game theory will play a role in contrarian stacks making the cut as GPP options. Nevertheless, chalky stacks will make appearances in this space, too.

Beyond my analysis in this space, I strongly suggest numberFire premium members using our DFS Sharpstack tool and hitting heat map tool. The DFS Sharpstack helps plug stacks into optimized lineups, allowing you to change parameters and lock or exclude players and teams. Meanwhile, the heat map offers a one-stop-shop for the opposing starting pitcher, implied total, park factor, and other notable goodies.

Now, let's look at the top stacks on today's main slate that starts on FanDuel at 6:40 pm ET.

Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies and Coors Field go together like peanut butter and jelly. According to FanGraphs, they have the highest wOBA (.350) in home games in 2022. Additionally, the matchup is good.

Righty Jakob Junis has a mediocre 4.15 ERA in 97 and 2/3 innings. However, he's been in a rut. Junis has had a 5.29 ERA in 47 and 2/3 innings in the second half. Junis has also been worse on the road than at home. In 44 and 2/3 innings on the road, Junis has had a 4.43 ERA this season.

In addition, the San Francisco Giants have a bottom-10 bullpen. San Francisco's relievers have the ninth-highest ERA (4.22) in 2022. So, the matchup is good from start to finish for the Rockies.

Coors Field's MLB-high park factor for runs makes Colorado's offense stackable throughout their entire lineup. However, my favorite picks are C.J. Cron ($4,000) and Ryan McMahon ($3,100). In 387 plate appearances against righties at Coors Field since last year, Cron has had a .378 OBP, .282 ISO, and .410 wOBA. Meanwhile, McMahon has had a .355 OBP, .255 ISO, and .380 wOBA against righties at home since last season.

San Francisco Giants

The Giants are the visitors to Coors Field. So, they'll get the Coors Field park-factor boost. But, sadly, they platoon throughout their lineup. Thus, San Francisco's hitters are riskier selections.

Nevertheless, their matchup is dreamy. Chad Kuhl has a 5.33 ERA and 5.30 Expected ERA (xERA). Yet, it gets better. Kuhl has been destroyed for an 8.90 ERA and 1.79 WHIP in 31 and 1/3 innings in the second half. Additionally, Colorado's relievers have the second-highest ERA (4.65) in 2022. The matchup is too good to ignore -- even with the risk of some of San Francisco's starters getting lifted early for pinch-hitters.

My favorite option is Joc Pederson ($2,800). The left-handed-hitting outfielder has muscled up for a .231 ISO against righties since last year. He'll also benefit from Kuhl's struggles against lefties. Kuhl has coughed up a .481 slugging and .355 wOBA to lefties this season. Therefore, Mike Yastrzemski ($3,100) is another excellent piece of exposure to Kuhl.
