3 MLB Player Prop Bets to Target on Tuesday 8/8/23

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash) to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections as a guide and looking at the MLB odds at FanDuel Sportsbook, here are some spots where you can find value today in the prop-betting market.

Here are some MLB player prop bets to make tonight.

Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Cody Bellinger To Hit a Home Run (+420)

The Chicago Cubs have a solid 4.99 implied run total tonight and are in a spot to exceed that versus the New York Mets.

With Carlos Carrasco on the mound for the Mets, it won't be a surprise to see a few balls going over the fence tonight for the Cubbies. There are also 15 mph winds blowing out to right field tonight; that's a nice boost for lefty hitters.

When it comes to Carrasco, he's been struggling this season with a .452 SLG, .355 wOBA, 5.61 xFIP, 1.35 H$/9, and 16.7% HR/FB ratio versus left-handed hitters this season. It hasn't been an easy go at things for the veteran pitcher, and that trend won't be slowing down tonight.

We'll turn to Cody Bellinger, who's in the midst of a great season and is currently on fire at the plate. He comes in with an active nine-game hitting streak with at least two hits in each of his last four games. However, he hasn't hit a home run in his last six games but has been crushing the ball, posting multiple exit velocities over 90 mph in this span.

On the season, Bellinger comes in with a 132 wRC+, .368 wOBA, .191 ISO, and 44.3% fly-ball rate versus right-handed pitchers.

Bellinger is truly in a great spot tonight, so I'll look to add Bellinger To Record an RBI (+115), too.

Corey Seager To Record an RBI (+120)

A soft matchup and plus-money odds lead us to Corey Seager tonight.

The Texas Rangers are rocking a 4.45 implied run total tonight against JP Sears, which should allow the league's highest-scoring offense to pile up the runs. The southpaw, Sears, is allowing a .390 wOBA, .530 SLG, 6.21 xFIP, 2.25 HR/9, .328 BABIP, and 52.2% fly-ball rate versus left-handed hitters. That's a rough set of stats, and it puts several of the Rangers' hitters in a spot to produce tonight.

Seager is having an MVP-level season and enters at plus money for an RBI tonight. Seager is rocking a 166 wRC+, .410 wOBA, .360 BABIP, .265 ISO, 42.0% fly-ball rate, and 48.1% hard-contact rate versus lefties this season.

I love everything about this matchup for Seager and the Rangers, who should plate plenty of runs tonight.

Freddie Freeman To Record an RBI (+110)

The Los Angeles Dodgers scored a million runs yesterday -- 13 to be exact -- and yet, Freddie Freeman didn't have an RBI.

Freeman is one of the elite hitters in the league and is always capable of knocking in a few runs. The Dodgers have their normal 4.90 implied run total and will be facing off against Brandon Pfaadt, who is struggling in his first year in the MLB.

Pfaadt comes in allowing a .409 wOBA, .600 SLG, .344 BABIP, 4.48 xFIP, 2.74 HR/9, and 39.4% fly-ball rate versus lefty sluggers this season. There's not much to say about that stat line other than it's bad from top to bottom.

When it comes to Freeman, he has a 159 wRC+, .406 wOBA, .383 BABIP, .209 ISO, 16.5% strikeout rate, 38.2% fly-ball rate, and 36.7% hard-contact rate versus right-handed pitchers. For Freeman's stat line, it's worth ranting and raving about all day, making it the opposite of Pfaadt's.

Roll with Freeman to also record an RBI tonight.
