4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 4/27/16
Building daily fantasy baseball lineups can be intimidating. On any given slate, you have a massive number of options in front of you and a ton of factors to consider.
We're here to help take some of that burden off and break down some hitters who you can slot into your lineup for nice and cheap, while still being well-positioned to provide your lineup with solid fantasy production.
Let's take a look at where we can find value on today's slate.
Miguel Montero, C, Chicago Cubs
FanDuel Price: $2,500
Miguel Montero is once again priced right around the bottom of the barrel for catchers, and he's got a pretty favorable matchup against Taylor Jungmann and the Brewers.
This is only Jungmann's second year in the Majors, but what he's shown so far hasn't been promising, and he's sporting a 4.27 SIERA through 25 games.
Montero hasn't been turning heads with his work from the plate to start the season, but he has solid career numbers against right-handed pitching, with a .343 wOBA and .167 ISO, and in a matchup like this, Montero is a serious bargain at $2,500.
Ryan Raburn, OF, Colorado Rockies
FanDuel Price: $3,300
Playing at home in Coors Field tonight, cheap Rockies bats are all worth consideration. Ryan Raburn's numbers make him especially appealing, and he has a .359 wOBA and .227 ISO against lefties through his career, and his 45.1 percent fly ball rate is something you love to see at Coors.
He's up against Jonathon Niese, whose numbers against right-handers shouldn't dissuade you from playing Raburn, and he has allowed a .328 wOBA to righties.
Oswaldo Arcia, OF, Minnesota Twins
FanDuel Price: $2,800
Oswaldo Arcia has had a strong start to the season through 11 games and is continuing to build on some encouraging career numbers.
He has seen a lot of success against right-handed pitching through his young career, with a .347 wOBA and .236 ISO. His strikeout rate sits a shade above 30 percent, which leaves some cause for concern, but his matchup today helps alleviate that worry a bit.
Josh Tomlin hasn't been great against left-handed hitters over his career, with a 4.18 xFIP, and his 15.1 percent strikeout rate against lefties makes this matchup even more promising.
Corey Dickerson, OF, Tampa Bay Rays
FanDuel Price: $3,200
Corey Dickerson is nearly always an interesting play when he's up against right-handed pitching, and if you made the mental shortcut of "roster Dickerson against righties," you would probably fare pretty well.
His salary is kept fairly low by his struggles against left-handed pitchers, but in 783 career plate appearances against righties, he has posted a .400 wOBA and .274 ISO, with a 38.6 percent fly ball rate and 39.1 percent hard hit rate. Those are some seriously excellent numbers, especially when you compare them to the numbers that other guys in the price range produce.
To top things off, his matchup tonight against Chris Tillman makes things even better. Tillman has a 4.40 SIERA in his career, allowing a .318 wOBA and sporting a 4.35 xFIP against left-handed hitters.
