4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 6/9/16

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks. With the split slates, we'll be focusing exclusively on the main slate beginning at 7 pm Eastern. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

St. Louis Cardinals

I know it can get boring to stack the same team three days in a row, but there's a reason we're doing this: the Cincinnati Reds' pitching staff burns the eyes of all who gaze upon it. Their 5.71 ERA is a hop, skip, leap, bound, and week-long road trip higher than the second-worst Minnesota Twins at 5.00, and it's going to give immense value to the opposing offense. It's lame, but we're doing it for a reason.

Today's starter, Brandon Finnegan, put a damper on our stacking enthusiasm last week by holding the Washington Nationals to 1 run over 6 1/3 innings. It's hard to put a lot of stock into that game, though, as Finnegan had more walks than strikeouts -- the fourth time he's done that this year -- making the lack of runs appear a bit fluky. His SIERA for the season is still up at 5.32 with a 15.4% strikeout rate and 40.0% ground-ball rate, so we simply can't avoid the St. Louis Cardinals.

By this point, people have caught onto the fact that Jhonny Peralta is stupidly cheap, and he's going to be one of the higher-owned guys on the slate. We don't really need to focus on him. Instead, we can delve into the magical deliciousness of Matt Holliday. His first 58 plate appearances against lefties in 2016 have churned out a 50.0% hard-hit rate, upping his career mark to 38.7%. He got the night off last night, so he should be back in there today and ready to rake against Finnegan and the Reds' flaming dumpster fire of a bullpen.
