4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 6/28/16
Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. As always, we'll be excluding today's game at Coors Field here. Coors is awesome for DFS, but you likely don't need me to tell you that. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
Miami Marlins
There is all kinds of stacking goodness matriculating through this baby here. Not only do the Miami Marlins gain a designated hitter in heading to an American League park, but they also get a park-factor boost and a matchup with a struggling starter in Mike Pelfrey. Swoons abound, ye maties.
If Pelfrey hasn't started sacrificing small trinkets to the BABIP gods, he has already waited too long. The main reason for his struggles this year has been generating strikeouts as he has picked up that third strike only 11.0% of the time this year. The Marlins have one of the lowest strikeout rates in the league against righties at 18.9%, meaning there are going to be a ton of balls in play tonight. If they break right for Pelfrey, then he might be able to work his way back into the good graces of manager Brad Ausmus. If they don't, though? That could be disastrous.
One price that's going to jump off the page at you is Justin Bour at $3,900 on FanDuel and $5,100 on DraftKings. Hot diggity dog. This is a guy whom you can usually find digging in the bargain bin on both sites, yet he's one of the more expensive players on the board at his position. I'd still be willing to use him. That price may scare some off, but Bour has a 17.5% strikeout rate in the month of June with a saucy 45.5% hard-hit rate. Pelfrey hasn't shown an ability to limit hard contact to lefties yet this year with a hard-hit rate of 34.0%, meaning you could be snagging one of these at low ownership.
