4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 7/6/16

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks. With the split slates, we'll be focusing exclusively on the main slate beginning at 7 pm Eastern. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Seattle Mariners

It's hard to tell what has happened with Mike Fiers this year, but he's pretty clearly not the same pitcher he used to be. His strikeout rate has tumbled all the way to 15.8% from 23.7%, and when you allow hard contact as often as Fiers does, that's not likely to get the job done. It becomes an even more daunting task against an offense as gross as the Seattle Mariners'.

What's even worse for Fiers is that things are trending the wrong way. Over his past seven starts, his strikeout rate is 13.9%, pushing his SIERA up to 5.11 in that span. That would be an indication that we should be stacking against him, and there aren't many teams better for doing so than the Mariners, who sit fourth in wRC+ against right-handed pitching.

Normally, we'd prefer to get Nelson Cruz against a left-handed pitcher. However, Fiers' strikeout rate is only 14.8% against righties, and they make hard contact a whopping 41.4% of the time. Cruz has paired a 41.2% hard-hit rate over the past three weeks with a 9.8% soft-hit rate, a stretch that has included seven of these beauties.

We're still fine to check out the Mariners' saucy lefties, but Cruz and Chris Iannetta need to be on your radar, as well.
