Christian Bethancourt on Athletics' bench Friday night
Oakland Athletics first baseman Christian Bethancourt is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against right-hander Glenn Otto and the Minnesota Twins.
What It Means:
The Athletics appear to be giving Bethancourt a routine breather. Seth Brown is making another start on first base and Sean Murphy is at designated hitter for Oakland. Austin Allen is entering the lineup to play catcher and hit sixth.
