Keibert Ruiz resting Thursday afternoon for Nationals
Washington Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz is not in the lineup against right-hander Jameson Taillon and the Chicago Cubs in Thursday afternoon's series finale.
Ruiz will rest for the day game following five straight starts behind the plate. Riley Adams will catch for Patrick Corbin and bat ninth while Jeimer Candelario moves up to bat third. Stone Garrett will replace Victor Robles in the outfield and hit eighth.
numberFire’s models project Adams ($2,100) for 8.2 FanDuel points on Wednesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Nationals' implied total is fifth-lowest of the day at 3.67 and the game total is 8.5. Taillon has a 3.93 SIERA so far this season, but his 9.1% swinging-strike rate suggests his 25.8% strikeout rate might be misleading. The righty's 47.6% flyball rate also doesn't jive with someone that hasn't allowed any homers on the year.
