Vinnie Pasquantino resting Monday for Royals
Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino is not in the lineup versus left-hander Braxton Garrett and the Miami Marlins in Monday's series opener.
The Royals appear to be giving the left-handed hitting Pasquantino a breather versus the Marlins' southpaw. He was in the lineup against lefty starters the previous two games and went hitless in both contests. Nick Pratto will take over on first base Monday while Edward Olivares enters the lineup to play left field and hit eighth. MJ Melendez will hit third and Michael Massey will bat fifth.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Royals' implied total is second-lowest on Monday at 3.67 and the game total is the lowest on the board at 8.0. Garrett has a 3.58 SIERA, 23.8% strikeout rate, 5.3% walk rate, and 48.4% ground-ball rate this season.
