Carlos Santana sitting Wednesday afternoon for Pirates
Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Carlos Santana is not in the lineup for Wednesday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Kyle Hendricks and the Chicago Cubs.
The Pirates are giving Santana the afternoon off after he went 0-for-8 with 2 strikeouts in the first two games of the series. Connor Joe will cover first base and cleanup duty while Cal Mitchell starts in right field and bats seventh.
numberFire’s models project Joe ($2,400) for 9.5 FanDuel points on Wednesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Pirates' implied total is 4.21 while the game total is 8.5. Hendricks has a 2.86 ERA in front of a 4.52 xERA this season, so regression is likely on the horizon. His 14.0% strikeout rate is also a career-worst and among the worst in the league.
