Detroit Tigers designated hitter Miguel Cabrera is not in the lineup on Wednesday afternoon against right-hander Osvaldo Bido and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Cabrera will rest after he started the last five games and went 5-for-17 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, a run scored, and a walk drawn. Kerry Carpenter will cover DH duty for the matinee and Matt Vierling will move out to right field. Zach McKinstry will start on third base while Nick Maton will start on the keystone and bat seventh.
