Kevin Newman on Reds bench Wednesday afternoon
Cincinnati Reds infielder Kevin Newman is not in the lineup for Wednesday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Johnny Cueto and the Miami Marlins.
Newman will snag a seat after he went 1-for-6 with a run scored, a steal, and a strikeout in the first two games of the series. Christian Encarnacion-Strand will shift to designated hitter while Joey Votto will return to first base and bat fifth. Matt McLain will start on second base again while Nick Senzel will remain on the hot corner and hit eighth.
Senzel has a $5,500 salary on the single-game slate and numberFire’s models project him for 9.3 FanDuel points. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Reds have an inviting implied total (5.12) and the game total is a batter-friendly 10.0. Through 22 innings this season, Cueto has a 3.65 xERA and 21.2% strikeout rate.
