Alfonso Rivas absent Wednesday afternoon for Pirates
Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Alfonso Rivas is not in the lineup for Wednesday afternoon's series finale against left-hander Zack Thompson and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Pirates are holding the left-handed hitting Rivas out against the Cardinals' southpaw. Connor Joe will start on first base in place of Rivas. Liover Peguero will man second base and hit sixth while Ji Hwan Bae joins the outfield and drops to seventh. Josh Palacios will start in right field and bat fifth.
numberFire’s models project Joe ($2,500) for 8.3 FanDuel points on Wednesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Pirates' implied total is 4.33 and the game total is 9.0. Thompson will be making his third start after mostly working out of the Pirates' bullpen this season. He has 18 strikeouts and 2 walks over his last 13 innings.
