Charlie Blackmon on Rockies bench Tuesday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon is not in the lineup on Tuesday against left-hander Blake Snell and the San Diego Padres.
Blackmon registered his fourth consecutive multi-hit game in Monday's series opener, but the lefty hitter is taking a seat against a southpaw on Tuesday. Hunter Goodman is taking over in right field and hitting seventh while Ezequiel Tovar steps into the leadoff role. Brendan Rodgers is moving up to bat second.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Rockies have the lowest implied total on the board (2.88) and the game total is a deflated 7.5. Cy Young favorite Snell has led all qualified starters in ERA (1.33), FIP (2.80), hard-hit rate (30.8%), and batting average allowed (1.61) while ranking second in strikeout rate (34.5%) and fourth in barrel rate (5.1%) since May 25th.
