Braves '99.9%' sure they won't trade Julio Teheran
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Julio Teheran isn't expected to be moved, as an official with the team told Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports that the club is "99.9 percent" sure they will not trade Teheran prior to the deadline.
The Braves explicitly stated that they are "not trading Teheran," so the 99.9 percent number feels arbitrary. Considering he's on a team-friendly deal through 2020 and the reality that Atlanta would like to have Teheran on the mound in their new stadium for Opening Day next year, it makes sense that they want to keep their 25-year-old right-hander. Nevertheless, teams are going to express their interest in acquiring Teheran (the Boston Red Sox are reportedly on the short list), so the right deal could sway their current line of thinking.
Teheran owns a 2.46 ERA and 0.89 WHIP across 106 innings this season. Our models currently project a slight regression, with a 3.51 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 118 2/3 remaining innings this season. His 2.62 nERD ranks 22nd in the big leagues.
