Giants' Hunter Strickland breaks hand, out 6-to-8 weeks
San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Hunter Strickland suffered a broken hand on Monday and will undergo surgery, sidelining him six-to-eight weeks.
Strickland punched a door in the clubhouse following a blown save on Monday, fracturing his pitching hand. The Giants' closer will be out until at least August with Tony Watson and Sam Dyson the favored options to replace him in the ninth inning.
Strickland logged 13 saves while posting a 2.84 ERA, and 1.23 WHIP in 31 2/3 innings pitched this season.
