The 10 Best Individual NBA Seasons Since 2000
Shaquille O'Neal, 1999-2000
nERD: 23.2
In a list full of recent NBA seasons, it's almost surprising to see a big man -- let alone his performance in a season that took place over 15 years ago -- make the cut. But, Shaquille O'Neal was cut from a different cloth, and he played in a different era entirely.
Back in the earlier days of Shaq and Kobe, the seven-footer posted per-game averages of 29.7, 13.6 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in 40 minutes a night. He shot 57.6% from the field and added 3.8 assists on a personal-best assist percentage of 19.3%.
His 30.6 PER, 9.7 box plus-minus and .283 win shares per 48 ranked at the top of each of the respective categories over the course of Shaq's 19-year career. Accordingly, he took home his only MVP award at the end of this season.
