3 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 1/24/17
George Hill, PG, Utah Jazz
FanDuel Price: $6,300
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
As was just mentioned with Lowry, the point guard position is very deep tonight. People are most likely going to be paying all the way up or saving money with one of the fill-in options. If they choose to play a mid-range point guard, most daily fantasy players will go with Payton over George Hill.
Why You Should Use Him:
Hill has been hit-or-miss lately, but has shown the upside to crush value at his price tag. Tonight's game sets up very well for him, as the Utah Jazz will take on the Denver Nuggets in a game they will be forced to play up in pace. As a result, Vegas currently has Utah projected for a 5.1-point increase to their season scoring average, which is the largest on the slate.
Hill will also benefit from the sub-par defense of Denver, who has struggled to defend point guards. They rank second worst in FanDuel points allowed to the position, and starting point guard Emmanuel Mudiay is one of the league's worst individual defenders, ranking 77th among point guards in DRPM and is attempting to play through a back injury.
If he doesn't suit up, it doesn't get much better for Denver, who will have to give Jameer Nelson heavy minutes. Nelson ranks 60th among point guards in DRPM.
No point guard on this slate is in a better spot than Hill from a matchup perspective, yet he is likely to carry low ownership. Given his inconsistent play, his matchup probably isn't enough to warrant cash game consideration, but don't shy away from Hill in tournaments.
