3 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 1/31/17
Jrue Holiday, PG, New Orleans Pelicans
FanDuel Price: $7,800
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Jrue Holiday has been playing quite well recently, but a loaded point guard position is likely to leave his ownership lower than it should be tonight. At that top end, John Wall, Kyle Lowry, Damian Lillard, and Kemba Walker are all in good spots, and outside of Lillard, all have been playing terrific basketball.
There are also plenty of fill-in point guard options on this slate. Brandon Jennings and Jameer Nelson both should demand their fair share of ownership, and if D'Angelo Russell is forced to sit once again, Jordan Clarkson would be likely to see some attention from daily fantasy players.
Amid all of these options, Holiday isn't likely to be overly popular in a matchup that is just so-so against the Toronto Raptors, who are also heavy favorites.
Why You Should Use Him:
Holiday has played as well as any point guard in the league lately, averaging 24 points, 10 assists, and 47.8 FanDuel points over his past four games. He'll carry that momentum into tonight's matchup against Lowry and the Raptors, a game which is expected to remain competitive and has a 214-point over/under.
Toronto has posted decent numbers against point guards on the year, but Lowry has looked worn down recently on defense, perhaps due to the 39.2 minutes per game he's had to play over his past five with DeMar DeRozan sidelined. Over that stretch, he's given up some big performances, including 62.7 FanDuel points to Eric Bledsoe, 46.8 to Walker, and 32.8 to Elfrid Payton.
The matchup isn't quite as appealing as some of the other point guards on this slate, but given the way Holiday has played recently, it would be no surprise to see him put up a big game. Given the fact that he'll likely carry a lower ownership than all the point guards mentioned previously, he is an excellent tournament option.
