3 NBA FanDuel Studs to Target on 2/9/17
Russell Westbrook, PG, Oklahoma City Thunder
FanDuel Price: $12,500
Despite averaging 58.4 FanDuel points over his past five games -- compared to James Harden's 50.5 -- Russell Westbrook is currently cheaper than The Beard, which is the first time Westbrook hasn't been the most expensive player on the slate in a while.
Westbrook will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight in a game the Oklahoma City Thunder are favored to win. Oklahoma City is expected to outscore their season average by nearly four points, which is the second-biggest boost on the slate. There have been rumors that LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love could all sit on Thursday, which would leave the likes of DeAndre Liggins, Jordan McRae, and Kay Felder to try and slow down Westbrook.
The Cavs have been bad enough against point guards as it is, allowing the sixth-most FanDuel points per game to the position. However, if they are left throwing inexperienced reserve players at Westbrook, it is scary to think about what he could do.
Cleveland has also struggled to defend the pick-and-roll and slowing down opponents in transition, two areas in which Westbrook thrives. They have allowed the second-highest points per possession to opposing ball handlers in the pick-and-roll, as well as the third-most points per possession in transition.
No matter how you slice it, Cleveland won't have an answer for Westbrook. He should dominate this game and is our top projected scorer on the slate. Get the man in your lineups.
