Ranking Magic Johnson's 13 NBA Seasons
12. 1995-96
A long way removed from his very first season in the league, Magic returned from a four-year absence after announcing that he had contracted the HIV virus. In 32 games (9 starts), he averaged 14.6 points, 6.9 assists and 5.7 rebounds at the age of 36. But, while the numbers were there, Johnson's efficiency dropped off in a big way.
Magic put up .181 win shares per 48 and 3.6 win shares -- the lowest mark of his NBA tenure. His box score was just 3.2, and as for his defensive box score it was nearly non-existent (0.3). After all, he averaged just 0.8 steals a game in his last go-around in the Association.
His team won 53 games but lost in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs, marking the end of Johnson's legendary career.
