3 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 3/15/17
Dion Waiters, SG, Miami Heat
FanDuel Price: $6,800
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Shooting guard has several viable plays on tonight's 10-game slate. Even with significant blowout potential, James Harden will likely carry some big ownership in a terrific spot against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Priced just below Dion Waiters is Devin Booker, who has played quite well recently and draws the best matchup possible for a shooting guard tonight as he takes on the Sacramento Kings. On the other side of the ball in that game is Buddy Hield, who is coming into his own for the Kings and should benefit from an up-tempo game against the Phoenix Suns. Both should deflect quite a bit of ownership from Waiters.
Why You Should Use Him:
Waiters' game-to-game production tends to be a bit erratic, but he has the ability to crush value at this price tag when he gets hot. He has enjoyed one of his hot streaks recently, scoring at least 20 real-life points in four straight games, a stretch during which he has averaged 35.3 FanDuel points.
He'll look to continue that streak tonight against the New Orleans Pelicans, who, despite decent on-paper numbers against shooting guards this season, are far from an intimidating defense. The Miami Heat are expected to outscore their season scoring average by nearly 5 points against the Pelicans, and given the 17 shot attempts Waiters has averaged over the past four games, it would be surprising for him to not be heavily involved in Miami reaching its 107-point implied team total.
New Orleans has also allowed the fifth-most made three pointers per game this season, which bodes well for Waiters, who has chucked it from deep 32 times in the last four games.
With a healthy Miami roster, Waiters is a bit of a risky cash-game option. However, he has shown that he has plenty of upside and is an intriguing tournament option tonight.
