The 10 Best Rookie Seasons in NBA History
2. David Robinson, San Antonio Spurs (1989-90)
Before there was Duncan, the Spurs took David Robinson with the first pick in the 1989 draft. The 7'1" center did not disappoint, totaling 15.1 win shares with a PER of 26.3 and .241 win shares per 48 in 82 games.
That makes it quite apparent that Robinson was more than deserving of his Rookie of the Year honor. The Admiral finished his first NBA season with 24.3 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.9 blocks while playing 36.6 minutes. He was purely dominant.
