NBA Draft Prospects: Top 5 Wings
5. Donovan Mitchell, Louisville Cardinals
At almost 21-years-old, Mitchell is considered one of the elder statesmen in this Draft class. He put in two years under coach Rick Pitino, and comes out of college with 65 games and 1,689 minutes under his belt.
In year one, he scored 7.4 points in 19.1 minutes per game, then in his sophomore season, while averaging 32.3 minutes per game, he produced 15.6 points on 40.8% from the field and 35.4% from three-point land. Meanwhile, the 6'3" guard pulled down 4.9 rebounds and committed 2.1 thefts a night.
Mitchell also tallied 5.4 win shares and a net rating of 22.1 per 100 possessions. His box plus-minus ranked second in the ACC, and he finished the year fifth in offensive box plus-minus and 10th in defensive box plus-minus in the country.
Mitchell will need to do some work on the offensive side of the ball, though: His true shooting percentage (53.4%) is the lowest among our top five wings, and for a two-guard of his size, that's just not going to cut it. If he can become a more efficient shooter, Mitchell could be a steal in the 10-to-15 range for a team like the Kings or the Charlotte Hornets.
