3 NBA DraftKings Studs to Target on 12/5/17
DeMar DeRozan, SG/SF, Toronto Raptors
DraftKings Salary: $8,500
As just mentioned, the Raptors are 13.5-point home favorites against the Phoenix Suns, which makes paying up for the likes of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry ($8,700) a risky proposition. On a three-game slate, where you're probably best off playing tournaments anyway, the upside may be worth it. Toronto's 119.5 point implied team total is 13.5 points higher than any other team on the slate, which shouldn't come as much of a surprise against a Phoenix squad ranked second in pace of play and 28th in defensive efficiency.
Phoenix has also allowed the most DraftKings points per game to opposing point guards and the third-most to opposing shooting guards, so both Lowry and DeRozan are in terrific spots. Of the two, Lowry has slightly more transition points on the season, while DeRozan has been the more efficient of the two in transition. He has upped his already career-high 50.3% effective field goal percentage to a ridiculous 75.7% mark in transition this season. Among players with at least 30 transition field goal attempts, only teammate Pascal Siakam has a higher field goal percentage in transition than DeRozan. He should thrive in this uptempo matchup. If Phoenix can keep it close, DeRozan has tournament-winning upside.
