3 NBA DraftKings Value Plays to Target on 12/6/17
Mason Plumlee, PF/C, Denver Nuggets
DraftKings Salary: $4,700
Mason Plumlee was a chalky play on Monday against the Dallas Mavericks and disappointed in just 19 minutes of playing time. Coach Rick Carlisle is notorious for intentionally fouling poor free throw shooters, a strategy he used to get Plumlee out of that game. It is unlikely that scenario unfolds again tonight, which could leave Plumlee playing heavy minutes at low ownership.
In his first relief start for Nikola Jokic, Plumlee played 31 minutes and put up 28 DraftKings points. That type of playing time and production aren't surprising, as we have seen Plumlee be an effective starting big man as recently as last season. If you played NBA DFS in 2016-17, you probably remember that Cousins and Plumlee had some beef with each other, and while Cousins usually got the best of him, Plumlee always put up a strong fight. In four meetings with Boogie last season, Plumlee averaged 39.8 DraftKings points.
Plumlee needs just 23.5 DraftKings points to reach five-times his implied value at this price, which is certainly within his grasp given the circumstances. The shorthanded Denver Nuggets were able to play small ball against a much smaller Mavs team, but are going to need Plumlee on the court to defend Cousins. Their only other options at this point are the undersized Kenneth Faried and Trey Lyles. Don't let his dud in the last game scare you off -- Plumlee is worth a look in any format.
