As of this afternoon, Kyle Kuzma is still experiencing quad soreness and is expected to be a game-time decision. That leaves the chance for him to play, but given Kuzma's poor shooting (4-of-24) on Wednesday the Lakers would be smart to hold out their prized rookie. If they ultimately decide to err on the side of caution, expect Larry Nance Jr. to step into the starting lineup and see an increase in minutes.
Through 22 games and 17 starts, Nance is averaging just 21.9 minutes on the year and even fewer (20.3) in 12 games in the month of December. Mainly earlier in the year, he had played a much larger role at points in time. He had found some success when given the chance, too.
In the five games he's started and played at least 27 minutes, the 24-year-old has scored in double-digits three times, grabbed 10 or more rebounds three times, and managed two double-double performances. All in all, he put up an average of 11.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 32.3 FanDuel points thanks to 2.2 steals and 0.8 blocks on the defensive end. What's not to love if he's given the nod tonight?
