3 NBA DraftKings Value Plays to Target on 3/14/18
Greg Monroe, PF/C, Boston Celtics
DraftKings Salary: $4,600
Greg Monroe hasn't had many opportunities in his time with the Boston Celtics, but with Al Horford set to miss tonight's game and Daniel Theis out for the season, approximately 46 minutes per game will be opened up in the frontcourt. Aron Baynes ($3,800) drew the most recent start for the Celtics and is a fine play in cash games if starting again. However, Monroe is the clear upside play of the two.
Monroe has averaged 1.14 DraftKings points per minute on the year, which is up to 1.20 in his time as a member of the Celtics. At that type of efficiency, he would need just 19 minutes to reach the 23 DraftKings points required of him at this salary. That seems like a guarantee, given the status of Boston's depth chart heading into this game.
He likely won't carry the ownership that other value big men such as Baynes and Bam Adebayo ($4,300) will if they are in the starting lineup again. While those players are cheaper and have slightly more secure paths to reaching value as starters, you'll be hard-pressed to find a player south of $5,000 with the type of upside Monroe has.
