3 NBA FanDuel Studs to Target on 4/5/18
Karl-Anthony Towns, C, Minnesota Timberwolves
Price: $10,000
It's usually not the best practice to heavily weigh players' performance against specific opponents, as the sample-size gets really small quickly, but Karl-Anthony Towns has played six games against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets over the last two seasons. As for the results, they have been extreme enough that, even with the small sample, they're worth consideration here.
Towns' lowest fantasy score in those games was 46.2 FanDuel points, with a high of 62.9 and an average of 52.7 per game. That came via 23.7 points, 13.2 boards, 4.8 assists and 2.0 blocks.
Towns is top-10 in post-up possessions per game, as well as possessions per game, as the roll man in the pick and roll this season. NBA.com's advanced stats have Jokic ranked in the 16th percentile as a defender against post-ups and in the 56th percentile against roll men, which certainly helps to explain some of Towns' success.
KAT has also been seeing a huge workload recently, averaging 37.9 minutes per game over his last seven. He has turned that into 49.5 FanDuel points per game, and even if we ignore the specifics of his matchup with Jokic, that's enough to put him firmly in play against the Nuggets who, as a team, allow top-10 fantasy numbers to both power forwards and centers.
