3 NBA DraftKings Studs to Target on 4/6/18
LeBron James, SF/PF, Cleveland Cavaliers
DraftKings Salary: $11,500
LeBron James scored 13 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter to erase a 17-point second-half deficit and pick up an important win against the Washington Wizards last night -- all the while finishing with 64.75 DraftKings points. He doesn't get a lot of time to enjoy the victory, though, as his Cleveland Cavaliers will travel to Philly to take on the Philadelphia 76ers in a game with huge playoff implications. If the Cavs win, they all but lock up the 3 seed, which would give them an easier first-round matchup and put them on the same side of the bracket as the ailing Boston Celtics. If they drop it, Philly could very easily wind up as the 3 seed ahead of the Cavs.
James has found success in this matchup, averaging 62.3 DraftKings points in three meetings with the Sixers this season. He's also been in peak form to close lately, averaging 62.1 DraftKings points in 16 games over the past month. Our projections have him putting up 58.75 DraftKings points tonight, which not only exceeds value at this price tag, but is higher than any other player projection.
Many will focus on Anthony Davis ($12,000) in an undeniably good matchup against the Phoenix Suns, but don't forget about James in this spot. The New Orleans Pelicans have a higher implied team total, but the over/under in this game is the highest on the slate, and it doesn't have nearly as much blowout risk. If paying all the way up, you won't find a safer stud than James today.
