Fantasy Basketball: 2017-18 Fantasy Hoops Awards
Fantasy Coach of the Year
Brett Brown, Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers had five top-100 players in fantasy hoops this year (tied for the most of any team), and they all lived up to or outperformed their ADPs:
Player | ADP | 9-Cat Rank |
---|---|---|
Joel Embiid | 36.0 | 31st |
Ben Simmons | 44.7 | 50th |
Dario Saric | 80.7 | 79th |
Robert Covington | 82.3 | 36th |
J.J. Redick | 122.7 | 70th |
And fantasy owners owe a lot of thanks to Sixers coach Brett Brown for those performances.
Brown managed Joel Embiid's minutes effectively, got a lot out of Ben Simmons despite Simmons being a rookie with no true position, found fantasy-friendly roles for Dario Saric and Robert Covington in a crowded frontcourt, and utilized newcomer J.J. Redick in a way that perfectly catered to his fantasy strengths.
Even buyout signings Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilyasova were able to carve out decent roles off the bench under Brown and had appeal as fantasy streamers on most nights down the stretch.
Honorable Mention: Mike D'Antoni (Houston Rockets), Mike Malone (Denver Nuggets), Dwane Casey (Toronto Raptors)
