3 NBA FanDuel Studs to Target on 11/12/18
Anthony Davis, PF, New Orleans Pelicans
Price: $12,200
While a 71.5 FanDuel point performance last Wednesday means we have seen the last of the sub-$12,000 price tags for Anthony Davis for a while, it also means that your fears should be alleviated if you had any concerns about the slump that made his salary fall that low in the first place.
Of course, it was only ever a slump by Davis' standards, where falling below 50 FanDuel points in three straight games (42.9, 49.1 and 29.1) is notable. He has since notched 71.5 and 58.6, his second- and fifth-highest marks in his nine games this year. Despite playing only nine games, his three games with at least 70 FanDuel points make up over one-third of all such games this year (eight), and he is the only player to hit that mark more than once.
Davis' ceiling is special, and it truly is not matched by anyone else in the NBA right now. This is something we saw last year, too, when Davis posted 80-plus FanDuel points eight times, and nobody else did so more than twice.
Even though his matchup with the Toronto Raptors isn't an easy one (the Raps rank eighth in defensive rating), both Toronto and New Orleans rank top 12 in pace, and this game's 229.5-point over/under is the slate's highest.
In all but the worst matchups, Davis is going to be firmly in play while his price tag sits this low, especially on a slate that doesn't have anyone else projected by our models to top even 50 FanDuel points.
