3 NBA DraftKings Value Plays to Target on 12/21/18

As with many value plays, Toronto Raptors center Greg Monroe's viability in DFS tonight hinges on the health of another player. Serge Ibaka is dealing with swelling in his knee and is questionable tonight. If he does end up missing the game, it will almost certainly be Monroe who enters the starting lineup again as the Raptors host the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Monroe got off to a fast start in his start on Wednesday, though his second half didn't have the same fire. He still finished with a respectable 25.0 DraftKings points, but early on it looked like he could have hit 40.0. It's hard to complain about a player who has returned a value of over 6.0 DraftKings points per $1,000, though that's not to say it doesn't happen.

Monroe has been solid against the Cavs throughout his career, but he hasn't had the opportunity to play 20 or more minutes against them since late November 2016. If Ibaka is out, that will no doubt change tonight. He is averaging a hair under 1.0 DraftKings points per minute against Cleveland in his career. If he keeps up that base production, he'd need just 24 minutes to hit a value of 5.0 DraftKings points per $1,000 at his $4,700 salary.

We have him projected for just 15.7 DraftKings points tonight, but that's assuming Ibaka plays and Monroe gets just 14.4 minutes. If he starts, look for that number to jump significantly.
