3 NBA FanDuel Studs to Target on 1/18/19
Anthony Davis, PF, New Orleans Pelicans
Price: $13,800
With James Harden not in action on this slate, it's even easier than usual to pay up for Anthony Davis. Yes, his price tag is crazy-high, but yes, he's worth jumping through hoops to fit in your lineup.
His 63.2 FanDuel points per game on the season are not only the most in the NBA this season, but they're the most a player has averaged in a season since the 1970's. The gap isn't small either, 1.3 points ahead of second place, which is the same size as the gap between second and seventh place. It makes sense for Davis to be historically expensive, especially when we narrow our view to his recent numbers.
Davis has topped 72 FanDuel points in five of his last nine games, with four games above 81 in that stretch. For context, nobody else has four games with at least 81 FanDuel points on the entire season, and only one other has at least five games with 72 FanDuel points.
The Portland Trail Blazers are a middle-of-the-pack matchup, only allowing the 17th-most FanDuel points per minute to opposing centers, but considering how dominant Davis' averages are, he doesn't need an especially strong matchup to be an elite play at this point.
