ALERT: the Jabari Parker project in Washington is going swimmingly.
No, seriously.
Ever since joining the Wizards by way of a trade that sent Otto Porter to Chicago, Parker hasn’t done much but average 12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal per game. That’s three games of at least eight-times value, including two games of at least ten-times value and a dud against Detroit last Monday with just seven FanDuel points.
As someone now able/forced to watch Parker up close, the stories about his poor defense are, in fact, very true. But he does have the ability to stay active on offense and fill in with some stats as a result -- exactly what we’re looking for in fantasy hoops.
There’s talk of Dwight Howard returning to Washington this week after a lengthy rehab from back surgery, but that shouldn’t mess with Parker much. For now, Parker is back. He can fill it up on offense, he’s currently available for a great price (sub-$6,000), and the Wizards have no reason not to squeeze everything they can out of him as they steer toward (probably) missing the playoffs.
Parker and the Wiz take on Charlotte tonight, followed by games against Indiana and Brooklyn.
