The 10 Best Single-Game Performances From the 2013-14 NBA Season

9. Kevin Love vs. Clippers - December 22nd, 2013

One good Timberwolf line deserves another. With Kevin Love now on his way to Cleveland, this game will likely serve as the best one from his last season in Minnesota. In fact, the 41.0 Game Score is currently the highest of Love’s whole career. For someone who puts up double-doubles in his sleep, that’s certainly saying something.

His 45 points in this game were shy of his career high of 51, but he got those points very efficiently, going 15 for 23 from the field, 2 for 6 from deep, and 13 for 15 from the line. He also pulled down 19 boards, dished out 6 assists, and grabbed a steal to complete a very robust line. The fact that he did this against Blake Griffin only makes the performance sweeter, as the two are intrinsically linked in every debate about the best power forwards in the league today.

This stands as the only entry on this entire list that came in a loss, which I suppose is a fitting ode to Love’s time in Minnesota; all of the stats, very few of the wins.

Games like this might not occur as regularly in Cleveland, as guys used to being alphas will have to adjust to life as betas and gammas. Still, in looking at this line, it’s mind-blowing to think that this guy is off to play with LeBron and Kyrie.
