Late Draft Pick of the Year

Winner: Draymond Green

Draymond Green had an average draft position (ADP) of 125 this season, firmly in the 11th round of standard, 12-team fantasy drafts. That was a perfectly reasonable spot for an unproven third-year player expected to backup David Lee, but an early-season injury to Lee gave Dray the starting power forward spot for the Warriors and he simply never let go of it.

Finishing as the 20th-ranked player in nine-category leagues, Draymond contributed across the board, averaging 11.7 points, 1.4 threes, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.6 steals, 1.3 blocks, and only 1.7 turnovers per contest, while shooting 44.3% from the field and 66.0% from the line. He may not have scored much and his percentages weren't spectacular, but he was essentially the only player in the league that could rack up threes, assists, and steals just as easily as rebounds and blocks.

Dray was a Kawhi Leonard-type glue guy, do-it-all type, with an Andreson Varejao price tag. He was the definition of a steal this year.

All-Late-Round Team

PG - Brandon Knight
SG - Danny Green
SF - Jimmy Butler
PF - Draymond Green
C - Tyson Chandler

Knight fell off a bit after being traded to the Phoenix Suns, but he was putting up 35th-ranked value in nine-category leagues in Milwaukee (55th on the season) after having an ADP of 111. Danny Green turned a 116 ADP into a 23rd-ranked season in which he gave owners all kinds of goodies with 2.4 threes, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per contest. Jimmy Butler was drafted in the mid-rounds (68 ADP), but finished as a top-10 asset. Tyson Chandler had a renaissance season in Dallas, finishing 37th in nine-category leagues (98 ADP) for his 10.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and 66.6% shooting from the floor.
