John Stockton was the epitome of durability, as he missed a total of just 22 games out of a possible 1,526 in his 19-year career. As physical and tough-nosed as Stockton was, he managed to resist injury and played every single game in 17 of those seasons, a remarkable feat that may never be matched. During the prime of his career, Stockton led the league in assists by averaging 13.1 per game over a nine-year stretch from 1987-1996.
Stockton stayed loyal to the Utah Jazz organization by taking pay cuts and turning down more lucrative offers from other teams in the league. He and long-time teammate Karl Malone, who played 1,412 regular season games together, are widely considered to be the greatest players in Jazz history.
