David Robinson, nicknamed "The Admiral" for his service in the US Navy, is lauded by basketball fans for his exceptional service as a lifetime San Antonio Spur. Light on his feet with a chiseled physique, Robinson was a force on both ends of the floor -- in his career, he recorded 23 games of 40-plus points (including a 71-point, scoring title-winning effort) and 10 games of 10-plus blocks (three of which occurred during his rookie season). He is the last player to have recorded the elusive quadruple double when he notched 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 blocks on February 17, 1994.
Robinson is actively involved in his community, most notably with the founding of Carver Academy located in San Antonio. In 2003, in honor of Robinson and his charitable efforts, the NBA awards the David Robinson Plaque to the monthly recipient of the league's Community Assist Award.
