Daily Fantasy Basketball Injury Report: Monday 2/13/17
With the NBA All-Star Break fast approaching, teams are going to be extra cautious with their injured players, making it somewhat tough to build a DFS lineup each night.
With an 11-game slate on Monday, there are plenty of injury situations that need to be monitored ahead of tip-off.
Notable Injuries
Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets are by far the most injured team heading into Monday night. Wilson Chandler is sick and missed shootaround and it looks like Emmanuel Mudiay is out again. Darrell Arthur, Kenneth Faried and Danilo Gallinari are all out on Monday, while Gary Harris is probable.
Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors will be without Klay Thompson tonight due to a sore heel and they will also be without Shaun Livingston, as he and his wife are expecting a baby. This will shorten the Warriors' guard rotation and could even give a few more minutes to Stephen Curry. Andre Iguodala and Patrick McCaw also gain some appeal with those two out.
Miami Heat
After having their 13-game winning streak snapped over the weekend, the Miami Heat are getting some good news before the All-Star break. Barring any setbacks in warmups, Dion Waiters looks like he'll return to the court and Josh Richardson participated in shootaround this morning.
With Waiters potentially back, that will lessen the appeal of Tyler Johnson, Rodney McGruder and Wayne Ellington. Plus, it could take a few shots away from James Johnson. Richardson should be eased back if he is ready to play, but that would still hurt Johnson, McGruder and Ellington.
Boston Celtics
Avery Bradley is feeling better, but still out tonight, as is Jaylen Brown, who suffered a hip injury. Both look like they'll be held out through the All-Star break for the Boston Celtics. However, Jae Crowder is back from being away from the team due to personal matters and should see heavy minutes with those two out.
Gerald Green is also not feeling well and is questionable tonight. If Green can't play, there are going to be plenty of minutes for Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart, while Terry Rozier will also be asked to step into a bigger role. Plus, after scoring 10 points in 15 minutes on Saturday, second-year pro James Young could be a nice tournament flier tonight.
John Wall, Washington Wizards
John Wall has been nursing an ankle injury, missing practice yesterday and shootaround this morning. He is still expected to play, but double-check his status before roster lock.
Jahlil Okafor, Philadelphia 76ers
Jahlil Okafor is not with the Philadelphia 76ers and he will not play tonight. With Joel Embiid also still out, Nerlens Noel is a fine DFS target against the Charlotte Hornets.
Aaron Gordon, Orlando Magic
Aaron Gordon is a game-time decision after going through shootaround, so there looks to be a solid chance of him playing. Mario Hezonja would likely head back to the bench if Gordon suits up.
Lesser Injuries
New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans are dealing with several injuries to some role players that will open up a ton of minutes. Dante Cunningham is out for personal reasons, while Terrence Jones is questionable.
E'Twaun Moore also missed Sunday for personal reasons, but there has been no update on him as of yet. If Jones is out, Donatas Motiejunas would soak up a lot of minutes tonight. Check back on Moore closer to tip-off.
Cody Zeller, Charlotte Hornets
Cody Zeller is out tonight after re-aggravating his quad injury. Frank Kaminsky should get some heavier run with the starting unit tonight with Zeller back on the bench.
Thaddeus Young, Indiana Pacers
Thaddeus Young will likely not play tonight once again with his wrist injury. Lavoy Allen, C.J. Miles and Kevin Seraphin have all taken turns getting bigger minutes with Young out, so it's tough to tell who is a good target.
Tyson Chandler, Phoenix Suns
Tyson Chandler missed a game over the weekend and there has been no update on his status for Monday. Alex Len fouled out in 20 minutes on Saturday without Chandler, but he did have 13 points and 8 rebounds. He is a good upside play in tournaments if Chandler is out.
Deron Williams, Dallas Mavericks
With the way Yogi Ferrell is playing, the Dallas Mavericks are in no hurry to bring back Deron Williams. However, the veteran guard is sick and questionable for tonight's game. He missed shootaround this morning, so look for Ferrell's run to continue for now.
Thabo Sefolosha, Atlanta Hawks
Thabo Sefolosha will once again be out on Monday, so the Tim Hardaway Jr. show will continue for the Atlanta Hawks.
