3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 2/27/17

Yogi Ferrell has a tough matchup tonight against the Heat. Who else should you steer clear of in Monday's NBA DFS contests?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

Yogi Ferrell, PG, Dallas Mavericks

FanDuel Price: $5,300

Yogi Ferrell's production has started to level out, and his price tag has reached the point where rostering him in bad matchups has become a bad idea.

Tonight may be a great example of that against Goran Dragic and the Miami Heat. According to our DvP Matchup chart, Ferrell has one of the toughest matchups of any player tonight, as the Heat are allowing point guards to average only 0.81 FanDuel points per minute this season.

Dragic has been solid on his own defensively, holding opposing players to 44.2% shooting, including just 33.8% from downtown.

Tim Hardaway Jr, SG, Atlanta Hawks

FanDuel Price: $5,500

Tim Hardaway Jr. had a nice run as the Atlanta Hawks starting shooting guard, but news out of Atlanta has Thabo Sefolosha re-entering the starting lineup tonight against the Boston Celtics.

Since his price has rocketed up to $5,500, it's going to b harder for Hardaway to reach value against a tough opponent like the Celtics coming off the bench, even if he gets 25-30 minutes of burn. Due to the news of his move back to the bench, our models project Hardaway for just 24.7 minutes tonight, making him a player to avoid at his current price point.

Ty Lawson, PG, Sacramento Kings

FanDuel Price: $4,800

Another player suffering from an inflated price tag and a potential regression in minutes is Ty Lawson. The Sacramento Kings backcourt is suddenly much deeper since the trade deadline and the their need to play Lawson has almost vanished and he now seems to be no more than a backup point guard, accruing only 23 minutes in their last game.

The Kings were being blown out in that one, but with Buddy Hield and Ben McLemore playing well at the two, it's hard to roster Lawson at his current price tag with any confidence.

Once again, our models project Lawson for just 24.3 minutes tonight. With Darren Collison in the mix along with Tyreke Evans, there are only 96 minutes for those five guards to split, and it looks like Lawson is currently fourth or fifth on the depth chart.

Unless there is an injury, he looks to be a player to avoid tonight and for the near future.
