3 NBA FanDuel Value Plays for 11/14/17
One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-priced options into your lineup.
Let's take a look at a trio of players who could provide value and salary relief on Tuesday's three-game set.
Patty Mills, PG, San Antonio Spurs
FanDuel Price: $4,500
Projected FanDuel Points: 21.2
Projected FanDuel Value: 4.71
On Saturday, Patty Mills' workload was limited with the San Antonio Spurs playing the second half of a back-to-back and completely dominating the Chicago Bulls. He saw just 20 minutes, producing 5 points, 6 assists, 1 rebound, and 1 steal in the blowout win. Don't let that scare you off, though.
Prior to Saturday's game, Mills had put up 14 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound, and 1 block in 37-plus minutes against the Milwaukee Bucks. He was the feature point guard and should continue to be tonight, as we project him to log 28-plus minutes. When Mills has played at least that many minutes, he's averaged 10.0 shots, 9.8 points, and 20.9 FanDuel points across four contests. He doesn't have much of a ceiling, but he's a solid option on a slate with only one healthy point guard above $8,000.
C.J. Miles, SF, Toronto Raptors
FanDuel Price: $3,100
Projected FanDuel Points: 16.3
Projected FanDuel Value: 5.25
Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey termed starting small forward Norman Powell doubtful for Tuesday's road game versus the Houston Rockets. Powell failed to practice on Monday after injuring suffering a hip pointer in Sunday's loss. His absence should allow either C.J. Miles or OG Anunoby to start, but whether he starts or not Miles is the better fantasy option.
While Anunoby averages just 5.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game, Miles is accounting for 8.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.5 assists across 18.9 minutes a game. With his scoring ability, it wouldn't be surprising to see him in double-digits. The Raptors will probably need him to have that kind of night as they enter Tuesday's matchup as 6.5-point underdogs in Houston. And it's for that reason that he's our second-best point-per-dollar play on the slate.
Luc Mbah a Moute, PF, Houston Rockets
FanDuel Price: $4,300
Projected FanDuel Points: 19.2
Projected FanDuel Value: 4.47
After sitting out a game due to a knee injury, Luc Mbah a Moute returned to the lineup on Saturday and put up a dud of a fantasy line, finishing the game with 10.7 FanDuel points in less than 28 minutes. He did bounce back on Sunday, racking up 11 points with 3 threes, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 rebound and 1 block -- and that's despite playing fewer (25) minutes on the second half of the back-to-back. While there appears to be a large range of outcomes for the veteran forward, he could be in line for a more positive fantasy game against the Raptors.
Given the matchup with Serge Ibaka and Anunoby, it makes sense that we have Mbah a Moute projected for more than 28 minutes. He will probably see extended time in place of Ryan Anderson, and while the playing time alone could be enough to make him worthy of rostering, the Rockets also carry tonight's highest implied total (113 points). Mbah a Moute's the ninth-most expensive power forward on the short slate, which provides the opportunity to stack him with an elite producer like James Harden.
