3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 12/6/17
In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.
You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to -- or even fade altogether?
Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.
Dion Waiters, SG, Miami Heat
FanDuel Price: $6,000
Dion Waiters put up a huge dud on Sunday against the Golden State Warriors, and his matchup doesn't get any easier Wednesday, as the Miami Heat play on the road against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs have been very good against opposing shooting guards this season, holding them to 0.78 FanDuel points per minute, and Danny Green has been a large part of their success.
Green is holding players he defends to 43.9% shooting and just 32.8% shooting outside of 15 feet from the basket. Coming off a poor game Sunday, I don't expect a bounce back from Waiters tonight.
Dennis Smith Jr., PG, Dallas Mavericks
FanDuel Price: $5,600
Coming off a 20-point outing against the Denver Nuggets on Monday, Dennis Smith could be a popular option as a lower-priced point guard on Wednesday's big DFS slate.
However, tonight is not the night to roster the standout rookie. Smith and the Dallas Mavericks are on the road against the Boston Celtics, who have been stingy in the amount of fantasy points they allow to point guards.
Boston is holding point guards to 0.80 FanDuel points per minute, and considering Smith is shooting just 38.3% on the road this year, the matchup is not great despite the low price tag.
Jeremy Lamb, SG, Charlotte Hornets
FanDel Price: $5,400
Another low price tag that could get you in trouble on Wednesday is Jeremy Lamb. The Charlotte Hornets shooting guard has seen his role diminished over the last few games, and against the Golden State Warriors, that could mean another subpar fantasy performance.
Golden State is holding two-guards to 0.81 FanDuel points per minute, and if Lamb is limited to 25 minutes or less -- as has been the case in three of his last four -- don't take a risk on him in your lineups.
