3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 2/5/18
In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.
You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?
Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?
Markieff Morris, PF, Washington Wizards
FanDuel Price: $5,900
Markieff Morris has been playing very well as of late, scoring in double figures in five straight games. With the loss of John Wall, Morris will be expected to produce more on offense, but he might find that tough to do tonight against the Indiana Pacers and Thaddeus Young.
The Pacers are holding power forwards to 0.89 FanDuel points per game this season, which ranks seventh-best on our defense-versus-position matchup chart. Morris has struggled some against Young in his career, averaging just 10.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game over an average of 27.4 minutes in their 11 previous meetings. Morris is shooting just 42.6% from the floor and 15.8% shooting from three-point range in 11 career games against Young.
Rajon Rondo, PG, New Orleans Pelicans
FanDuel Price: $4,900
After a big game on Friday, Rajon Rondo's fantasy production took a nose dive in the New Orleans Pelicans' loss on Saturday. Rondo's minutes have been all over the place lately, and it's hard to trust him on Monday against the Utah Jazz.
Utah is holding opposing point guards to 0.86 FanDuel points per minute this season, and right now our models project Rondo for only 21.4 FanDuel points on Monday.
Tyrone Wallace, SG, Los Angeles Clippers
FanDuel Price: $4,400
With the acquisition of Avery Bradley from the Detroit Pistons, the Los Angeles Clippers don't have to rely on Tyrone Wallace as heavily. That much was clear in Bradley's Clippers debut on Saturday, when Wallace was bumped to the bench. He played 25 minutes to Bradley's 32 in that game.
Now that there's a clear-cut veteran ahead of Wallace on the Clippers' depth chart, it's going to be hard to roster him in DFS. Plus, today's matchup is a rough one. The Dallas Mavericks are holding shooting guards to 0.77 FanDuel points per minute this season, so Wallace is a straight fade today.
