3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 2/26/18

Andrew Harrison could be popular with Tyreke Evans ruled out, but he's got a brutal matchup against the Celtics.

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?

Derrick Favors, PF, Utah Jazz

FanDuel Price: $5,800

There are certain matchups that don't line up well with Derrick Favors' game, and tonight's contest may be one of those as the Utah Jazz face the Houston Rockets. Even with Houston coming off a game last night, Favors may have trouble dealing with the pace of the Rockets' offense.

In his two games against the Rockets this season, Favors is averaging just 21.3 FanDuel points in 27 minutes per game. With P.J. Tucker and Luc Mbah a Moute, the Rockets have the third-best fantasy defense against power forwards, per our numbers, and Favors might fall victim to that tonight.

Andrew Harrison, PG, Memphis Grizzlies

FanDuel Price: $5,600

Andrew Harrison is going to be a somewhat popular play on Monday with Tyreke Evans already ruled out with a rib injury, but that may make him an even bigger landmine on this busy 10-game slate.

The Boston Celtics have been very good against point guards this season, limiting them to a league-low 0.83 FanDuel points per minute. With Marcus Smart back in action for the Celtics, Harrison is going to have some good defenders thrown his way in the likes of Smart and Terry Rozier off the bench. With the Memphis Grizzlies owning the slate's lowest implied total by a mile, Harrison might not be worth the risk.

D.J. Augustin, PG, Orlando Magic

FanDuel Price: $5,300

D.J. Augustin has seen his minutes start to fluctuate after a steady streak of 30-plus-minute games right after the trade of Elfrid Payton. However, with the Orlando Magic in lose-now mode for the rest of the season, it makes sense that they would taper the veteran's minutes in these meaningless games.

That could continue Monday night with Augustin coming off just 23 minutes on Saturday. The Oklahoma City Thunder are a very tough matchup defensively, holding point guards to just 0.87 FanDuel points per minute, so even if Augustin plays more minutes tonight, his price tag makes him a tough player to stomach in any format.
