NBA Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 1/14/19
If you're new to daily fantasy basketball -- maybe you started your DFS journey during the MLB or NFL seasons, or maybe basketball is your sport and this will be your first year giving it a shot -- you're in for a treat. The NBA scene changes hugely on a week-to-week, day-to-day, and -- depending on injury news -- even a minute-to-minute basis, making every slate a unique one that requires an ever-changing approach.
With so much changing so quickly, we're here with plenty of tools to help you out. We have daily projections, a matchup heat map, a lineup optimizer, and a ton of other great resources to help give you an edge.
We'll also be coming at you with this primer every day, breaking down a few of the day's top plays at each price point.
Let's take a look at who you should target on today's main slate.
Best of the Best
Anthony Davis ($12,700): It's still hard not to love Davis when we're getting him as only the second-highest priced player on the slate. Yes, James Harden is rolling, but so is Davis. Davis is averaging 66.2 FanDuel points per game over his last 14, while Harden is averaging 66.4 per game over his last 16 -- the entirety of this recent hot streak. So with their nearly identical recent numbers, the fact that Davis has been doing it all year -- averaging 62.5 per game and topping 60 in 24 games compared to 57.2 per game and 15 games above 60 for Harden -- makes his future prospects more promising. Davis also draws a great matchup tonight, with the New Orleans Pelicans boasting the slate's second-highest implied total (118.0) against a Los Angeles Clippers team that plays at a top-10 pace while ranking 22nd in defensive rating and allowing the league's 10th-most rebounds per game.
