For the purposes of this article, we are using the odds provided at FanDuel Sportsbook to pinpoint three spots where value can be had on a player's stat line, scoring, or even shot type.
Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Over 30.5 Points
Giannis Antetokounmpo has scored 30 or more points in 6 of his last 10 games and is second in the league at 31 points per game. This big matchup between the Bucks and Mavs is hindered by the injury of Dallas' star Luka Doncic. He's out in this pivotal matchup as the Bucks will go for their 19th consecutive win. Bucks guard Eric Bledsoe is out for the game as well, leaving Giannis with a larger workload for the next two weeks.
In his last six games, Giannis is shooting at a 57.5 percent clip on 20 shot attempts, while also nailing 2.5 threes per game. Our model projects him to score 30.1 points tonight, which is right around his home average of 30.2. I expect him to go over that number, due to his increased usage.
Russell Westbrook, Over 23.5 Points
The Rockets get Russell Westbrook back tonight after a game off due to rest; a home contest in which they lost to the Detroit Pistons. Westbrook will take away some of James Harden's shot attempts and cut into Harden's facilitating in the half-court game. Westbrook has scored 23 or more in each of his last four contests. He is averaging 23.3 points at home and has surpassed 23 in four of his last five in Houston.
In his last game against the Spurs, Westbrook recorded a triple-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, and has averaged 24.6 points since that game. After a weekend off for Westbrook, expect the Rockets guard to be aggressive and revamped in tonight's game.
James Harden, Under 7.5 Assists
James Harden continues to come up with ways to score. After 39, 54, and 55-point games this past week, he faces the Spurs at home -- a team he torched for 50 in the double-overtime loss on December 3rd. That was the game with a missed dunk call on Harden, where the Rockets blew a double-digit lead in San Antonio. Harden has made 24 three-pointers in his last three games to go with just 18 free throws. Harden has attempted at least 10 threes in 22 of his 26 games this season and attempted 20 in his previous game versus the Spurs.
Harden is averaging 7.5 assists on the season, though he is down to just 6.4 assists over his last seven games. Expect Harden to get his tonight offensively, especially from deep, though he could fall short on the assist total.
