3 NBA Player Prop Bets to Target on Thursday 12/19/19
Player props can be useful in a variety of ways, from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash), to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy basketball.
While you can use those odds in fantasy, you can also utilize our fantasy projections and a variety of other tools to help make money on betting everyday player props.
For the purposes of this article, we are using the odds provided at FanDuel Sportsbook to pinpoint three spots where value can be had on a player's stat line, scoring, or even shot type.
Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.
Jarrett Allen, Over 11.5 Points
Jarrett Allen is averaging a double-double in his past 10 games, putting up 13.6 points and 11.3 rebounds in that span, with 10 or more rebounds in 10 of his last 11. The Nets are seventh in rebounding rate (51.3), and Allen recorded 14 rebounds in his previous game. The Spurs -- Allen's foe tonight -- are sixth in rebounding, making Allen's rebounding matchup difficult, so siding with his point total tonight is easier.
Allen has recorded 12 points or more in seven of his last 10 games, and he's shot 50 percent or better in eight of 10. The Nets and Spurs are tied in points per game (12th at 111.7). San Antonio has gone into overtime in four of their last five outings, and they surrendered 15 points and 15 rebounds to Clint Capela in their last game. On the season, Allen averages 12.3 points and 12.9 on the road, compared to 11.7 points at home.
Against a Spurs team that is 22nd in defensive rating and plays at the 12th-fastest pace, the over on 11.5 points is a good bet here.
Trae Young, Over 2.5 Made Threes
Trae Young has averaged 31.0 points and 4.1 made triples over the past 10 games for the Hawks. Young has scored 72 points and made 10 three-pointers over his past two games and is doing all he can to break Atlanta's five-game losing streak. Young is fourth in points (28.5), fourth in assists (8.5) and fifth in three-pointers made (93) this season. He is averaging 3.4 made triples per game and has made three or more three-balls in 11 of his last 13, including each of the past three.
At home, Young is averaging 28.3 points per game and 3.2 made three-pointers on 8.8 attempts. Our models project Young to score 24.1 points and make 2.9 three-pointers tonight. If the Hawks control the pace against the Utah Jazz, Young should hit the over on this prop.
Rudy Gobert, Over 13.5 Rebounds
Rudy Gobert has recorded four straight games of 14 or more rebounds and is third in the league with 13.9 boards per game. Gobert has notched 10 straight double-doubles. He's averaged 16.4 points and 13.7 rebounds during that 10-game span.
Gobert has another double-double opportunity with the Hawks on the schedule tonight. Atlanta's leading rebounder is Jabari Parker at 6.3 boards a game, and the Hawks as a team are 28th in rebounding with 41.9 per game.
Gobert is projected to grab 13.5 rebounds tonight and averages 14.0 per game in 12 road games. In a pace-up spot -- Jazz are 15th in pace, compared to 9th for Atlanta -- Gobert has a good shot to snag 14-plus boards.
