3 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on 3/5/20
One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-priced options into your lineup.
Let's take a look at five players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.
Harry Giles, PF, Sacramento Kings ($5,000)
There aren't a ton of value options on tonight's four-game slate, but Harry Giles is one worth considering.
The Sacramento Kings are still dealing with a ton of injuries among their big men, and Giles has jumped at this opportunity to cement himself as a viable option for their offense. In his most recent game, he played 26 minutes and posted 25.7 FanDuel points -- 0.3 points away from 1.00 FanDuel points per minute. Just as I did for many of my calculus tests in school, I'm going to fudge things a bit and simply say that it's 1.00.
If we include this most recent game, Giles has produced at or above 1.00 FanDuel points per minute in six straight while playing 20 minutes or more in every game. Giles is bringing consistent production on a nightly basis and is doing so with a usage rate of only 19.0%. Our projections have Giles continuing this success, going for 28.7 FanDuel points in 25 minutes -- making him the second-best value play on the slate.
Reggie Jackson, PG, Los Angeles Clippers ($4,200)
Since joining the Los Angeles Clippers after the All-Star break, Reggie Jackson has been a viable value option.
He has played six games with the Clips and is essentially splitting time with Patrick Beverley, where neither of them has played more than 24 minutes in any games. But in this time, Jackson has been much more productive, posting 17.9 FanDuel points or more in four of these six games. In this same span, Beverley has posted 20 FanDuel points once, and every other game is at 13.6 FanDuel points or fewer. The minutes may be equal, but the production is coming from Jackson lately.
This is due to the fact that Jackson generally comes off the bench and plays when Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are sitting. In a small sample size, we see Jackson holding a 21.4% usage rate and posting 1.32 FanDuel points per minute. This is honestly a great situation for Jackson. He doesn't have to compete for usage with two stars and can pay off his salary in tonight's game that has an over/under set at 236.5 points.
Furkan Korkmaz, SG, Philadelphia 76ers ($4,100)
The injuries on the Philadelphia 76ers have piled up and there are minutes to be played by bench players.
One of those bench players is Furkan Korkmaz, who has produced 20 FanDuel points or more in four of his last six games -- the six-game stretch since Ben Simmons went out. We have also seen Joel Embiid and Josh Richardson go out with injuries, which has led to Korkmaz playing 25 minutes or more in four of these same six games. Opportunity is knocking for Korkmaz, and he is doing his best to establish himself as a viable bench option.
Tonight, Korkmaz and the 76ers are taking on the Kings (total of 218), who are allowing 42.8 FanDuel points per game to opposing shooting guards, the eighth-most in the league. Among shooting guards tonight, he is projected to be the fourth-best value option on the slate -- but it should be noted that two players ahead of him, Fred VanVleet and Devonte' Graham, are listed as questionable.
