5 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Wednesday 12/21/22
One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays.
If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing one of these lower-salaried options into your lineup.
Let's take a look at some players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup on FanDuel tonight, using numberFire's daily fantasy basketball projections as a guide.
Jonathan Kuminga, SF, Golden State Warriors
James Wiseman, C, Golden State Warriors
Kuminga FanDuel Salary: $4,200
Wiseman FanDuel Salary: $3,700
The Golden State Warriors' injury list remains long, and for tonight's game against the Brooklyn Nets, that sets up well for them to give us some sub-$5,000 salary options.
In the frontcourt, specifically, we will find numberFire's top two projected value plays of any player early in the day.
Jonathan Kuminga (projected for 6.11 FanDuel points per $1,000) trails only James Wiseman (7.10) in the value ratings.
Kuminga is projected for 28.1 minutes and 25.7 FanDuel points in this matchup. He has averaged 0.80 FanDuel points per minute and 14.2 per game overall (on 17.8 minutes per game). In games specifically with at least 20 minutes of run, Kuminga's production jumps to 25.6 per game and 0.91 per minute.
Wiseman is putting up 0.95 FanDuel points per minute across his 15 games this year, but it wasn't until last night that he played at least 20 minutes when he had 22.0 in a blowout loss to the New York Knicks. He has room to surpass value easily at such a low salary, given his per-minute output.
Josh Hart, SG/SF, Portland Trail Blazers
FanDuel Salary: $5,900
Josh Hart and the Portland Trail Blazers travel to face the Oklahoma City Thunder in a game with a hefty 235.0-point total (second-highest of the night). The spread is just 4.0 points in Portland's favor. Therefore, we get a top-four implied team total for Portland tonight.
Hart is expected to play 34.9 minutes and accrue 31.8 FanDuel points (a 5.40 value rating) on a line that features 13.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.5 combined steals and blocks.
The Thunder are roughly an average defense on the year, and with such a high total, Hart should be able to give us a floor with a path to a ceiling.
In their first meeting, Hart went for 31.6 fantasy points over 32.1 minutes in a game with Damian Lillard active.
Al Horford, C/PF, Boston Celtics
FanDuel Salary: $5,300
Al Horford and the Boston Celtics are getting away from the Orlando Magic here, which is good news for them after Orlando beat them in back-to-back games over the past week.
In that second game against Orlando, Horford's minutes jumped back up to 33.2, and he racked up a decent output of 21.2 FanDuel points.
Overall on the season, Horford has averaged 25.1 FanDuel points per game and 0.81 per minute.
Tonight, the Celtics are up against the Indiana Pacers, a team ranked 21st in defensive rating. Against teams inside the bottom 10 in defense, Horford's per-minute FanDuel point output shoots up from 0.81 to 0.97.
Patrick Williams, SF/PF, Chicago Bulls
FanDuel Salary: $4,500
The Chicago Bulls have some questionable health in the frontcourt, and we should see Patrick Williams rate out well as a result.
Williams and the Bulls are hosting the Atlanta Hawks' 18th-ranked defense. Atlanta is also just 27th in rebound defense (on a per-game basis).
numberFire's model pegs Williams for 30.9 minutes and 23.6 FanDuel points in this matchup, which is tied to a solid 234.0-point over/under.
Williams has been quite sensitive to defensive splits. Against teams inside the top 10 in defensive rating, he is averaging 0.60 FanDuel points per minute. Against all other teams, that mark is 0.78.
